2018 Mounts Petasera Estate Petite Sirah
This powerhouse, opaque Petite Sirah is bursting with black and blueberry fruit with a touch of anise. Flavors follow and include savory meat characters, spice, and blackberry jam. The mouth coating tannins leave you with a long, lingering finish. Well built, complex wine that will benefit from cellaring.
Vine age is 17 years old.
Whole berry destemming, 4 - 5 day cold soak, punchdowns 3 times per day. Native yeast fermentation in small open top, one ton fermenters. Total skin contact 18 days. Barrel aged 21 months in 100% new French oak.
